When is it time to update your office furniture?
Everything has a certain lifespan, even office furniture. It might not need to endure robust treatment like some other work equipment does, but eventually it will wear out. Desks get scuffed. Chairs get tatty and the cushioning goes. It might not actually break, but all this minor wear and tear adds up and can make your office look a bit shabby.
Comfort is perhaps where you will notice deterioration the most. In an office, you are likely to be sitting in your chair for seven or eight hours a day, five days a week. That is a lot of time. If your chair is even slightly uncomfortable, you’ll quickly come to notice it. It might still support your back correctly and keep you in an appropriate position when working, but if the padding is flat, the chair will feel uncomfortable and there’s little you can do but replace it.
You might need to change your office furniture if it is no longer fit for purpose. Sometimes people’s jobs change and they might need a larger desk or more drawer space. Or it might be that you need to fit more workers into the same room and therefore need smaller desks. Whatever the reason, at the end of the day, only you can know when it’s time to invest in new office furniture.
