Scientists Tell Us to Sit Back
It is often said, that to protect your back as an office worker, you should sit up straight and practice good posture. However, it would seem that scientists have now proven that an overly erect posture may actually make matter far worse and this previous advice should be ignored.
This new research outlines how an erect upright posture can place too much strain on the back and spine and ultimately leads to chronic back pain.
Scientists claim that rather than sitting bolt upright you should instead sit in a 135 degree angle leaning back. With this in mind, experts have suggested that those of us who work long hours sat at an office desk should choose an office chair that can be adjusted to a relaxed position.
As a third of employees in the UK suffer from back pain, this could be a step forward to eliminating this type of injury.
There are a wide range of office chairs available to buy, either on the high street or online. Ergonomically designed office chairs are best. These often have arm rests and are adjustable, so that the height and also the angle of the seat can be changed to suit you. Try before you buy to ensure it is as comfortable as possible.
