Lighting up the home office
Whether you are working on a self employed basis or lucky enough to work for a corporation that allows home workers, working from home often feels much less pressured and is economical. However, a large factor on productivity and also motivation is the lighting in place.
It is highly important to have a well lit office. Without this, there is a much increased risk of migraines and eye strain.
There are several different options for lighting in a home office and your choices may depend upon the set up and location of the home office. For instance, a ceiling light can be sufficient however, natural daylight is important so where possible, position the office desks close to a window. Built in skylights are ideal. If you are likely to work late into the evening, another good idea is to use an office desk lamp.
Important considerations when choosing the right sort of lighting includes the position of any office accessories you are likely to use, such as the computer or laptop itself on the office desk, printers, fax machine and telephone and how much paperwork you do. Use screen monitors to avoid any harsh glare on the monitor.
The entire working area needs to be brightly lit and not just where your office seating is positioned.
