Ideas to make your office’s reception comfortable and beautiful

Section: Office Design — Nigel on September 11, 2009

The most important area of an office is undoubtedly the reception area. All people be it the clients, business partners or future employees make their first impression of the organisation from the look of the reception area. To create a good first impression, it is therefore important to decorate the reception of an office in an effective way.

Choosing the reception desk:
The shape and size of the reception desk plays a crucial role in deciding the look of the reception of an office. The size of the reception desk must be decided after judging the available space. Different shapes of reception desks are available, but the reception desk which occupies less space providing ample open area must be opted for. The colour and finish of the reception desk must be in accordance with the décor of the office.

Selecting the reception chairs:
The chair of the receptionist should not be too big. The reception chairs which are to be used by the office staff should be smaller than the reception chairs that are kept for outsiders. It is better to keep different types of reception chairs so that you can accommodate people of all heights and sizes.

Designing the reception seating:
The reception seating must be designed to offer ample space for movement. Crowded reception seating does not look good. The reception seating must be spread out for accommodating at least six people comfortably. Placing one or two reception chairs at a distance from the rest is preferable as that allows visitors a little personal space and looks better than the chairs all being cramped together.
